Kayak Trips in the Black Canyon  On the Colorado River Availability:  We are currently booked through August 2017.

The  Black Canyon of the Colorado River  is the canyon below Hoover Dam, or the up lake portion of  Lake Mojave.

This is a classic desert canyon with its harsh, rugged, rocky terrain.  And in the bottom of that canyon the cool (actually very cold) waters of the Colorado make a fantastic counterpoint to all that desert harshness.  With this cold water, this is a good place to paddle during the summer.

The put-in point for our Black Canyon trips is Willow Beach, Arizona (just an hour and a half from downtown Las Vegas, Nevada)...unless we're doing our  Desert Adventure , in which case, we meet at a trail head, hike down to the  Arizona Hot Springs , and then we'll paddle downstream to Willow Beach.

It's a great place to view wildlife, not a trip goes by without some views of eagles, blue heron, or mountain sheep. See our page on  Mojave Desert Flora and Fauna .

Half Day to Emerald Cove

This is a half-day trip of about a 4 mile round trip. It is upstream but only for about 2 miles.

This is a great short trip, not strenuous, with a great place or two to picnic, and good chances to see some wildlife.

Full Day to Crane's Nest Rapids This trip is about 8 miles round trip. It is up stream from Willow Beach. We call this beach 4-Mile Beach. It's a good place for a picnic. Nearby Crane's Nest Canyon makes for a beautiful short hike from the water.

As with every trip in the Black Canyon, it's very scenic with the good potential for wildlife sightings.

Half Day to the Frogman Petroglyph This trip is about a 7 mile round trip. It is down stream from Willow Beach. Chances are we won't see another paddler so we'll probably have the area to ourselves.

Go here  to see a web album of the petroglyphs near the Frogman.

It is about a 16 mile round trip with good chances of wildlife sightings, some good places to picnic, or to take short side canyon hikes and of course - the goal is soaking in the hot springs!   Full Day to the Sauna Cave This is going upstream from Willow Beach all the way to the dam (almost).
