Kayak Lake Mead Trip on Boulder Basin of Lake Mead

Lake Mead Kayak Trips In the Boulder Basin Lake Mead  is a classic desert lake with its harsh, rugged, rocky terrain.

You can paddle during your visit to Las Vegas with no problem.  In an hour, you can be in Boulder Basin, be on the water, and be surrounded by beautiful desert views.

Lake Mead is a good place to view wildlife, not a trip goes by without some views of eagles, blue heron, or mountain sheep.  See our natural history pages on  Mojave Desert Flora and Fauna .

Some trip ideas: Half Day to Boulder Islands -  This kayak trip is easy and convenient.  We meet at Starbucks Coffee Shop in Boulder City and a few minutes later we're on the water having fun! These islands are about 1 mile from our put-in.  We'll paddle around a bit and maybe beach up for a picnic.

Full Day to Castle Cove -  This trip is about 8 miles round trip. It's an open water paddle but, it's nice sometimes to get out on the open water.

Full Day to Hoover Dam -  On this Lake Mead trip, we'll see the dam from the upper or lake side of the Black Canyon.  It is about a 11 mile round trip.
